Flutescapes

Flutescapes is the original project of acclaimed Slovenian flutist Mateja Kremljak Hotko, bringing together classical music, jazz, Latin rhythms, improvisation, and a touch of world music in a truly unique musical experience. At its heart lies the flute - an instrument that bridges diverse genres, creating a vibrant and expressive soundscape rich in color and character.

Fresh arrangements and original compositions written especially for this ensemble open up new dimensions of flute performance. Among the program’s highlights are a special arrangement of a Chick Corea piece, crafted exclusively for Flutescapes by renowned American arranger Michael Abene; the Flutescapes Suite by Slovenian composer Žan Tetičkovič, currently based in New York; and the Latino Sonata by British composer Mike Mower, whose distinctive rhythms infuse the concert with an uplifting Latin spirit.

The project brings together eleven outstanding Slovenian musicians:
Mateja Kremljak Hotko (flute, piccolo), Jaka Kopač (alto saxophone), Lenart Krečič (tenor saxophone), Matija Marion (baritone saxophone), Tomaž Gajšt (trumpet), Andrej Štrekelj (trumpet), Denis Beganović (trombone), Marko Črnčec (piano), Matej Hotko (bass), Kristijan Krajnčan (drums), and Lazaro Amed Hierrezuelo (percussion).

With its fusion of styles and exceptional artistry, Flutescapes promises not only a remarkable concert experience but also a valuable contribution to the Slovenian music scene - while opening the door to wider international recognition.
