Lakiko

“Just as the pieces formulate a hybrid aesthetic between adaptations of traditional Sevdalinka forms, electronic excursions and contemporary music, Lakiko mixes history and different cultures” Field Notes Berlin

Lakiko is a cello - bowed, scratchy, repetitive and haunting. However Lakiko is also a voice, singing about a nomadic existence, nightmares, an archaic past and a dystopian future. Bosnian ethno music blend with classical music, breathy pop vocals with contemporary opera, driving beats next to nearly endless glissandi-loops,

…and in between again and again the haunting sound of a cello

Lakiko - aka Lana Kostic- was born in Sarajevo. She studied classical cello in Germany (Bremen and Munich) and Cello, Classical singing and Composition in Switzerland (Bern).

In cooperation with the Neurology Biel(CH) she performed "The Musical EEG", where she was connected to an EEG device and played and sang her brainwaves live.

This is were Lakiko was born.

She performed at Montreux Jazz Festival (CH), Jazzfest Sarajevo (BiH), Musikfest Kyburgiade (CH), Musikfest Goslar - Harz (DE), Spike Cello Festival Dublin (IRL), Sea Festival Bruxelles (BE), Jazzfest Ljubljana (SLO), Cully Jazz Fest (CH) and others.
