Jadranka Juras

Duration: 1 H
A concert celebrating the release of the new album Dva črna vrana.

The album Dva črna vrana flirts heavily with jazz but cannot be confined solely to this genre. Its tracks carry a touch of singer-songwriter essence, occasionally even hints of evergreens. With meticulously crafted lyrics that harmonize seamlessly with the music, the project transcends simple categorization, offering a holistic musical experience.

During the creation of the album, Jadranka collaborated with renowned Slovenian jazz musicians, including Robert Jukič, Kristijan Krajnčan, Aleš Suša, and Milan Stanisavljević. Actor and singer Saša Tabaković added a fresh perspective with their duet on the track Dva črna vrana, as did Croatian jazz guitarist Elvis Penava. A significant contribution came from musician and arranger Matija Krečič, who composed string arrangements for most of the songs.

Jadranka Juras embarked on her successful musical journey in the late 1990s with the popular group Planet Groove, with whom she recorded one of the most popular covers titled Sonce. She further enhanced her vocal and musical skills at the Jazz Institute of the University of Arts in Graz, where she graduated in 2008 with a degree in concert jazz singing under Prof. Deni DeRose.

The combination of jazz singing, influences from contemporary popular music, and a desire for creative expression led to two notable authorial projects: her debut album Anima and the later album Sakura. Both received excellent reviews, and singles from both albums reached the top spots on Slovenia’s major radio stations. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with numerous renowned musicians and composers, performing on numerous stages both in Slovenia and abroad. Over the past 15 years, she has refined her operatic singing, performing at opera houses. She has also recorded two jazz albums – Paris Honey (2016) and You and I and the Music (2019) in collaboration with Big Band RTV Slovenia. In 2019, with the group Okustični, she recorded and released the album Enkratna, neponovljiva, for which they received the Golden Penka award for Best Album of the Year 2020.
