Gavro Quartet feat. Alex Sipiagin

Duration: 1 H
quartet

Gavro Quartet is a music ensemble founded in 2023 by guitarist Tilen Gavranovič, who is currently based in Paris. The quartet takes its name from his artistic moniker and performs original compositions by Gavranovič, drawing inspiration from a wide range of musical genres – from traditional and modern jazz to classical and popular music.

The quartet features Lenart De Bock on tenor saxophone, Miloš Čolović on double bass, and Andreas Reisenhofer on drums. For this occasion, Prešeren Award recipient Jure Pukl will step in on tenor saxophone in place of regular member Lenart De Bock. Joining the tour as a special guest is world-renowned trumpeter Alex Sipiagin, a long-time member of ensembles such as the Mingus Big Band, Dave Holland Big Band, and Gil Evans Orchestra. As a soloist, he has released over twenty albums, featuring jazz greats like Mulgrew Miller and Chris Potter. Sipiagin has also performed with notable artists such as Michael Brecker, Eric Clapton, Elvis Costello, and Dave Sanborn, and has contributed to several Grammy-winning albums, earning a reputation as one of the leading trumpeters of his generation.

In 2024, the quartet recorded and released their debut album Let’s Wait and See, featuring acclaimed guest musicians Jim Rotondi (trumpet) and Marko Črnčec (piano). The album led the group to perform in various countries, sharing the stage with artists such as Tomaž Gajšt, Gerhard Ornig, Žan Cesar, and album collaborators Jim Rotondi and Marko Črnčec.
