ABOUT

Minorities are not just buildings. While the Cultural Quarter is architecturally constituted by the Minorite Monastery, Tri babe (Three Wenches building), the Church, the Auditorium and the Judgement Tower, Minoriti are primarily a distinct entity with profiled content. They bind together events with a broader cultural character: performances, , music and film events, creative collaborations, talks and exhibitions.

UNICUM ON THE NATIONAL LEVEL
A DISTINCTIVE CONTEMPORARY ART VENUE

The Minoriti Cultural Quarter, together with the Maribor Puppet Theatre, is now establishing itself as a contemporary art venue in its own right, presenting different languages of artistic creation in fresh ways. Theatre productions - with an emphasis on puppets, which are at the heart of the complex - and stage events are the primary form of expression, joined by exhibition, concert, film and conference activities. Contemporary performing practices in particular are seeking, almost demanding, new and different spaces... and the Minoriti Cultural Quarter complex offers a unique starting point. At the same time, the complex is distinctive on a national level, as it is located in a former religious building. In addition to the Grand Hall - located in the former monastery garden -, the Small Hall - on the premises of the Minorite monastery -, it encompasses the Minorite Church, the Judgement Tower, the Auditorium and other occasional venues. Minoriti are therefore not a space, but a unique entity in which the events of the whole city are intertwined.

EXCHANGE, MUTUALITY AND SUSTAINABLE INTERACTION
HUB OF CITY STAKEHOLDERS AND FESTIVALS

Minoriti are also a hub for almost all the city's stakeholders and festivals, such as the Festival Lent, the Maribor Theare Festival Borštnikovo srečanje, Stoptrik, Dokudoc, Enimation, Platforma..., the city's producers and institutions, as well as a valuable partner for independent producers. In the interplay of these, the Cultural Quarter is made relevant through exchange, reciprocity and sustainable interaction; by respecting the historicity of the complex, it directs its action towards reflection and an upright posture, while allowing all the freedom of artistic articulation.
