džeZZva

The quartet džeZZva from Murska Sobota has long been a staple of the Slovenian and European jazz scene. Their sound draws from the rich tradition of American jazz, infused with elements of European classical music and subtle influences from both popular and folk traditions of southern Europe. These four masters of improvisation, bound by a deep musical synergy, deliver performances that resonate even with the most discerning listener. Their expression is both sensitive and virtuosic — the result of years of playing together and a shared artistic vision that speaks louder than words.
While the bulk of their repertoire is original, they occasionally reinterpret traditional pieces, giving them a distinct, personal signature through imaginative arrangements. Their compositions elegantly blend the Pannonian melodic tradition with sonic influences from distant cultures, striking a fine balance between introspection and fire. Their self-titled debut album was named one of the 20 best Slovenian records by the music editors of RTV Slovenia, while the follow-up, Sintur, made it onto the list of the top 30 jazz albums in the region — a clear marker of their international reach.
