Film in Minoriti: Perfect Days
Hirayama seems quite content with the simple life of a toilet cleaner in Tokyo. He lives in a modest apartment full of old tapes, books and photographs. His days follow a calm and settled rhythm: he gets up in the morning, trims his moustache, tends to his plants, puts on his blue overalls and gets into his van. He listens to music on his way to work, photographs trees during breaks, reads in the evening... A series of unexpected encounters gradually reveal more about his past.
The greatest pleasure of the film lies in the accumulation of tiny details, lovingly observed fragments of life that seem insignificant in themselves. But when they come together, they create a poetic, deeply moving tale of unexpected peace, harmony and contentment, which took hard work and difficult choices to achieve.
