Film in Minoriti: The Merry Wedding

Duration: 1H 38 MIN
Franc Štiglic / 1984 / 98 min / Yugoslavia

The Mery Wedding celebrates 40 years since its premiere on 11 June 1984. Actor Bert Sotler received the Metod Badjura Award for his performance as Tompa at the Teden domačega filma.

The story follows a group of Prekmurje musicians, the Pickova banda, as they travel around Prekmurje playing at various parties. Despite the wishes of Miško's family and a priest to enter the priestly profession, Miško decides to follow his dream of becoming a professor or a writer; he joins Pickova banda and thus gets to know Prekmurje and its people. The story reaches its climax at a wedding, where Miško leads the musical accompaniment and falls in love with Šarika, which raises doubts among Miško's relatives.

The film, which premiered last year in a revamped dcp format, continues to delight audiences with its unforgettable music, authentic Prekmurje atmosphere and moving story of love, passion and finding one's own path in life.
