Film in Minoriti: Wake Me

Duration: 1 H 25 MIN
Marko Šantić, 2022, 85 min, Slovenia

Rok wakes up in the hospital, where he landed unconscious after an accident. He no longer remembers his girlfriend, his job, or the house he lived in. The only memories he retains are of his hometown and the home he shared with his mother and younger brother. Shortly after returning to his hometown, Rok notices that he is no longer welcome. His family and acquaintances treat him differently. Slowly, a mosaic of memories forms in his mind, and he begins to realize how troubled his past was. His younger brother is following the same wrong path. For the first time in his life, Rok takes responsibility. He wants to stop the cycle of dysfunction in his family and break its repetition.

In recent years, the world has witnessed historical revisionism - a reinterpretation of history. Younger generations spend a lot of time on the internet, where they acquire incorrect historical facts. It seems that under this influence, they are creating a completely different image of history than the one we know. /.../ This general lack of knowledge about history is something that affects all of us, and that is precisely what my fourth film addresses.
