At the premiere of the performance, Pavel Polák wrote: "Janko and Metka, a fairy tale by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, undoubtedly belongs in the treasury of world fame. Along with Red Riding Hood, Snow White and Cinderella, it is one of the first fairy tales that children encounter. The story of a brother and sister, who get lost in a dark forest and find themselves in front of an evil witch's house is one of the first scary children's stories. At a time when children, especially through television, unwittingly consume a large amount of aggressive images and stories, in the puppet theater we will conjure up a world where the big winners are goodness and love."
The staging of Janko and Metko as a classic, timeless puppet show has been delighting many generations for almost two decades, and in the 2017/2018 season, it already experienced two hundred repetitions.
