Literary Station: Nenad Veličković

Nenad Veličković is a writer, professor of literature at the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo, columnist, editor, and in-house author at Publishing House /*cf. He writes about Bosnia, the war, and the post-war period — a time when life struggled to mend itself under new circumstances. His works are characterized by a distinctly humorous tone which, despite the tragic periods he depicts, leaves an ultimately optimistic message.

In Slovenian translation by Đurđa Strsoglavec, Zoja Skušek, and Aljoša Rovan, five of his novels are available: Gostači, Oče moje hčerke (My Daughter’s Father), Sahib, Koncerti za oboo (Concerts for the Oboe), and the young adult novel 100 Zmajev (100 Dragons). The books can be borrowed from branches of the Maribor Public Library.

The conversation with the author will be moderated by Darka Zvonar Predan.

The event is organized in collaboration with the Maribor Public Library, Publishing House /*cf., and Sodni stolp – Minoriti.
