PIŽAMA!

To celebrate the 1st National Comic Book Day, we are organizing VigeVageWeek, which will be officially opened on the evening of 22 November with a visit from BOŠTJAN GORENC – PIŽAMA.

At the Maribor Puppet Theatre, Pižama — author, translator, host, and stand-up comedian, affectionately known as Pižamc — will be joined in conversation by Anja Zag Golob.

Pižama is an institution in himself: he writes books, translates them, talks about them, hosts discussions, and visits schools; he is loved by kids and the adults who accompany them, who enjoy his stand-up comedy and read his translations for grown-ups. Pižama is also closely connected to the world of comics in several ways, which makes him the perfect guest to kick off the celebration of the very first National Comic Book Day.

Who is the person behind the Pižama brand? What kind of human being is Boštjan Gorenc? How does he see the world—and how does the world see him? This will be a fantastic opportunity to ask him all that and more. And of course, he’ll be happy to sign any of his books.

Admission is free, and the Mariborka Bookstore team will once again prepare a pop-up bookshop at LGM for the evening’s discussion. This time, exceptionally for VigeVageWeek, the pop-up will feature only books from our own publishing house—to make the celebration even sweeter! Two brand-new titles will be available for the first time, both with a 10% discount: Mawil’s KINDERLAND and Manu Larcenet’s THE ROAD.
