Vid Jamnik

Duration: 1.5 h

Vibraphonist Vid Jamnik first encountered jazz at the age of eleven under the tutelage of the legendary Yugoslav jazz musician Boško Petrović. Soon he began performing around the world with renowned musicians and bands such as Jimmy Cobb, John Riley, Georgie Fame, Jim Rotondi, Stefan Milenkovich, Gianni Basso, Duško Gojković and the JM Jazz World Orchestra under the direction of Luisa Bonilla.

In addition to his quartet Urgent Detergent, he is also the leader of the pioneering project Viva Jazz Forma, which interweaves the sounds of steel sculptures with jazz and electronic music, combining the visual and musical worlds, and collaborates with the fashion brand Just A Corpse. In 2014, he released his debut album entitled Last Minute! on the label Alessa Records, and in 2022 the duo album Rajska Ptica with vocalist Ajda Stina Turek on the label ZKP RTV Slovenia.

In 2012, he graduated from the Carinthian State Conservatory of Music in Klagenfurt. Following the recommendation of the vibraphone giant, Gary Burton, he continued his studies at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA. There he studied with professors such as Terence Blanchard, George Garzone, Ed Saindon, Kenny Werner and Ralph Peterson, graduating in 2018.
