25th Poetry Tournament

After two semifinal tournaments held on April 11 at the Damir Feigel Library in Gorizia and on April 25 at the Valvasor Library in Krško, twelve poets have qualified for the final round of the Poetry Tournament. They will compete with their original poems for the prestigious title of Poetry Knight 2025.

The finalists are • Nika Gradišek, Jure Jakob, Damjan Japelj, Aleš Jelenko, Jernej Kusterle, Brigita Mencigar, Lucija Mirkac, Alja Pušič, Sara Špelec, Andreina Trusgnach, Karmen Vidmar, and Eva Žnidaršič.

This year’s guest poet is last year's Poetry Knight, Peter Rezman. The event will be hosted by project coordinator Nino Flisar and former Poetry Knight Alenka Jovanovski. The expert jury, consisting of Dr. Irena Novak Popov, Dr. David Bedrač, and Franci Novak, will select the new Poetry Knight, who will receive a hand-forged rose crafted by artistic blacksmith Miha Krištof, a monetary award of €1000, and a book gift. The audience will also vote to select their own winner. A booklet featuring all the finalist poems will be published and given as a gift to all attendees.

In case of rain, the event will take place in the Judgement Tower (Sodni stolp) at Lent.
