Poetry Here and Now: Exploring Poetic Discourses in the Slavic Literary Fields of the 21st Century

The eighth edition of Slavic Scientific Reflections centers its research focus on developments in Slavic poetry and culture from 2000 to the present. What does poetry have to say in an increasingly apocalyptic time of new wars and new realities shaped by the aftermath of the pandemic crisis? What are the new strategies of poetic expression, and in which new media do they manifest? How does poetry relate to other artistic practices? How is the poetic subject represented in the new poetry emerging from Slavic contexts? What is the role of poetic discourses in the post-2000 era? These are just some of the questions this year’s conference seeks to examine and reflect upon.

As part of the symposium, in cooperation with the Maribor Puppet Theatre and the Minoriti Cultural Quarter, a poetry recital titled Poetry Here and Now will be held on May 22 under the oak tree by the Judgement Tower, featuring diverse poetic voices in various Slavic languages.
