Constructing Boundaries: Between Signature and Erasure – Exhibition and Symposium

About the Exhibition
Borders often appear to us as static lines on maps, yet in reality they are alive — formed through language, customs, and the ways we perceive one another. The exhibition Constructing Boundaries: Between Signature and Erasure enters a space of tension between identity and control, between the trace we leave behind (the signature) and what is silenced or removed (erasure).
The exhibition is the result of a collaboration between the associations Hiša! and Arka, whose practices demonstrate that borders — physical, symbolic, national, and disciplinary — are porous. Here, culture is not understood as a static display, but as a living process of encounters within difference.
Symposium: Meet the Artist and Erase the Borders
Before the official opening, we invite you to a symposium where, through direct conversations with the artists, we will explore their personal and artistic worlds. Instead of academic rigidity, we will listen to living voices that blur the boundaries between theory and experience.
Participating Artists
The exhibition brings together diverse artistic poetics from Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina:
Fulvia Grbac – a connector of cultural currents from the Slovenian coast and traditions of graphic art.
Maja Pegan – exploring light, memory, and public space.
Slađana Matić Trstenjak – creating fields of tension between inner states and the surrounding environment.
Nina Medved – capturing moments of silence and bodily presence through photography and text.
Monika Pocrnjić / Monitronica – intermedia transitions between manual gesture and algorithm.
Amer Hadžić – transforming the tradition of the Bosnian house into spaces of contemporary pop culture.
Denis Haračić – uncompromisingly exploring the human core through progressive graphic art.
Eldina Kožljak – creating escapist underwater worlds that transcend fixed limitations.
Maja Hodžić – developing a visual language that moves between wakefulness and dreams.
We warmly invite you to step with us into a space where a border does not signify division, but rather an opportunity for connection.
The event is the result of a collaboration between the associations Hiša! and Arka, who believe that community emerges when we allow ourselves to be without borders.
The exhibition will be open on weekdays from 15:00 to 18:00.
