DOKUDOC: Fiume o morte!

Duration: 112 min

There are no dates for this event currently

Dissatisfied with the outcome of the Paris Peace Conference, which envisaged the city of Fiume (now Rijeka) being awarded to Croatia, the eccentric Italian poet, aristocrat and military officer Gabriele D'Annunzio arbitrarily declared the city the Italian Regency of Kvarner in 1919. D'Annunzio's subsequent 16-month occupation of the city is considered one of the most bizarre experiments in the history of political rule. A little over a century later, Rijeka-born film director Igor Bezinović set out to not only revive this little-known but ominously relevant historical episode, but also to reconstruct and reinterpret it in an original way, together with his fellow citizens.
