Filaments of Existence and Boštjan Simon

Duration: 1 H
vakuum2

Straight from our beloved Trieste come two threads of existence: Filaments of Existence, aka Camilla Collet on drums and Giorgio Giacobbi on tenor saxophone—though you might swear there are more musicians on stage. Using electronics and effects, Filaments of Existence weave intriguing and diverse soundscapes that at times feel like the soundtrack to a sci-fi movie. Their track titles often hint at deeper ideas and meanings, yet they leave plenty of space for the listener to create their own cinematic narratives from the swirling echoes of rock, jazz, metal, and electronic influences. Now’s your chance to dive into their musical exploration, a suggestive blend of drums, sax, and effects. It’s trippy nu-jazzy stuff, just funky enough to make your hips sway—practically guaranteed—and an absolute must for fans of the ever-rising local heroes, Pantaloons.

Kicking things off with a wild solo set will be Boštjan Simon, one of the most compelling and active musicians and electronic experimenters in the region, known from projects like Etceteral and There Be Monsters. Boštjan enriches and ferments perception with a mix of saxophone, modular synths, and other electronics. His electro-acoustic debut Fermented Reality (Nature Scene Records, 2024) is a standout piece of improvisation(!), demanding attentive yet effortlessly engaging listening.

At the VJ desk, Toni Soprano Meneglejte will add her own layer of live improvisation. A seasoned intermedia artist, her work spans scenography, lighting, photography, drawing, and sound performances.

The breakdown: 66% drum’n’sax, 11% electro, 11% improv, 9% rock-nu-jazz, 3% sci-fi.
