TOMAŽ PAČNIK - CAMINO

FLAMENCO JAZZ & ETNO AMBIENTAL • DAN KLAVIRJA

TOMAŽ PAČNIK has travelled many musical paths over several decades of creative work.
He has collaborated with numerous acclaimed musicians and artists, working both on the Slovenian music scene (Planet Groove, Vlado Kreslin, Jadranka Juras, Alenka Godec…) and on the international music and arts scene. Alongside his performance career, he has created musicals and devoted himself passionately to teaching and pedagogical work.

He is best known as a keyboardist, a founding member, and the driving force behind the jazz–fusion–ethno group JAZOO — the only Carinthian musical collective of this genre, which will celebrate an impressive 30 years of uninterrupted activity this year.

Over the past decade, his artistic path has been strongly shaped by flamenco. He is also one of the few pianists in this part of Europe to engage deeply with a genre traditionally dominated by the guitar. While he does not consider himself a flamenco pianist, this musical “exoticism” has nonetheless found its way deeply into his fingers.

For various music-and-dance projects, he has composed extensive original music performed by leading Slovenian dancers (Urška Centa, Mihaela Wabra Kucler, Živa Heričko, Simona Šturm, Mitja Obed…), as well as dancers and artists from Budapest, Maria Keck and Petra Böröcz. Beyond numerous concerts in Slovenia and Hungary, his flamenco journey has taken him to the very heart of flamenco — Spain — as well as to Turkey, Italy, Croatia (on multiple occasions), Serbia, North Macedonia, and even Bolivia.

In recent years, he has increasingly focused on solo concerts and projects, presenting original compositions within his new project CAMINO. CAMINO is a mosaic of ideas — the result of countless timeless journeys and passionate paths without an end.

The Maribor concert takes place on the eve of PIANO DAY 2026.”
PIANO DAY is celebrated on the 88th day of the year, referring to the 88 keys of a standard piano. The initiative was launched by German pianist and artist Nils Frahm, who described it as an opportunity “to celebrate the piano and everything around it: performers, composers, piano makers, tuners, concert organizers, the entire piano community — and, most importantly, the listeners.”

What awaits us is an exceptionally intimate piano experience.
A special concert that draws the listener closer to themselves, to the music, to the moment.
No amplification. No distance. Music within arm’s reach. And silence between the notes.

Intimacy. Silence. Presence.
