Lent Festival: Adam Ben Ezra & Michael Olivera: Heavy Drops

Over the past decade, Adam Ben Ezra has completely changed the understanding of the double bass and brought it closer to the younger generation. More than 20 million views on social media, joint performances with stars such as Snarky Puppy, Pat Metheny, Victor Wooten and Richard Bona, and contributions in media such as the BBC, CBS News, Time Magazine and The British Telegraph, have paved the way for him to be considered a phenomenon of a generation and at the same time an internet and festival sensation. The dazzling virtuosity in his performances cannot be overlooked; his extremely skillful, almost "athletic" interweaving of acoustic and live recorded sounds of the double bass, which occasionally also sounds like percussion, surprises the ear of even the most experienced listener.

He will be performing for the first time in Slovenia at the Lent Festival, marking the release of his album Heavy Drops, which he recorded in a duo with the exceptional Cuban drummer Michael Olivera, who we heard at the Lent Festival in 2024 (in a trio with pianist Alfredo Rodríguez). Michael Olivera's mileage is also impressive: he has collaborated on more than 60 albums and played with renowned artists and producers such as Quincy Jones, Chucho Valdés, Sting, Tomatito, Alfredo Rodríguez, Paquito D'Rivera, Pepe Rivero, Rick Wakeman, Yonathan Avishai, Synthesis, Chano Domínguez and many others.
