Lent Festival: Gugutke

Gugutke

The Gugutke band is a quintet of Slovenian musicians who perform folk music from countries from Rezia to Turkey with a youthful approach. The band members add their own touch to folk music, while remaining faithful to the original source and traditional techniques of performing various dances and songs. Their performances represent a return to nature and folk music, allowing it to show itself in all its simple beauty.

Gugutk's repertoire ranges from love vocal ballads to bouncy dance rhythms, which allows them to adapt to different stages and audiences, from acoustic chamber music concerts to larger amplified outdoor stages. The band has already performed on stages and festivals such as the Bardentreffen Festival in Nuremberg, the European Bauhaus Festival in Brussels, Kultursommer Wien in Austria, Crossroads Music and Łódźie Worldfest in the Czech Republic, the Pannonica Festival in Poland, the Ascoli Piceno Festival and Mittelfest in Italy, MENT, Druga Godba, Godi Bodi, Slovenska zemlja v pesmi in besedi ... Their concerts are often broadcast on the national radios RTV and ARD. The band has collaborated with musicians such as Adi Smolar, tenor of the Slovenian Philharmonic and the Slovenian Octet Rok Ferenčak, the mixed choir Viva Brežice, the Cantabile symphony orchestra, the Ptičje studio choir, folk musician Marino Kranjac and the American cellist Sarah Ghandour.

In 2025, they released their first album under the Celinka label.
